  2. I saw some all-time Premier League stats today and something struck me. I did a bit of research on http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/premier-league/all-time-table/pl-years (no relation) and came up with the following. (From 92-93 season onwards)

31st January 1998 – Southampton have their 100th Premier League defeat (219 total before relegation)
29th August 1998 – Everton have their 100th Premier League defeat (242 total)
18th March 2000 – Aston Villa have their 100th Premier League defeat (207 total)
18th November 2000 – Chelsea have their 100th Premier League defeat (145 total)
16th December 2001 – Liverpool have their 100th Premier League defeat (158 total)
10th September 2005 – Arsenal have their 100th Premier League defeat (125 total)
as of today 29th January 2009 – Manchester United have had only 91 Premier League defeats

Yes I support United, that’s why i was curious how many they’d lost because they weren’t on the first list of most defeats I saw. The other biggest thing that stands out is the overall goal difference for the ‘big 4′:

    Manchester United +711
    Arsenal +514
    Liverpool +407
    Chelsea +402

    Newcastle United +116
    Blackburn Rovers +86
    Aston Villa +72
    Leeds United +68

    That’s it for positive goal difference, next QPR at -8 but that was over 164 games. After them;

    Tottenham Hotspur -12
    etc…

    Finally to
Derby County -149 (over 266 games)
    Sunderland -152 (over 289 games)

Special mention to Southampton who had -140 over 509 games for surviving so long.
